Overview

Founded by Nikolaj Meier and creative director Knut Bendik Humlevik from the desire to establish a design house with a focus on intent, care and experimentality; New Works presents a collection at the intersection between old and new. Their work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality whilst challenging the contemporary forms. The studio collaborates with an international group of renowned designers and artisans, who display a matching fascination with sculptural forms and approachable design pieces.

Tense Pendant Lamp

Stretching to over one metre in length, the Tense Pendant Lamp appears like a soft cloud has floated in. A truly modern construction, its soft Tyvek diffuser represents a material both durable and soft – whilst being 100% recyclable. The flexibility of this paper-like diffuser allows its slim frame to accentuate the cloud like qualities of the Tense Pendant Lamp. Finished with a slimline LED light source, all components fit into a slim box for ease of transport. A truly modern approach to lighting.

Margin Pendant Lamp

The Margin lighting family is designer John Asbury’s modern interpretation of a classic luminaire. Exploring a tiered typology for lighting, Margin’s intersecting shades gently diffuse the light and instantly set the tone with warmth and tactility. The softness of the fabric is tempered by a clean and graphic silhouette that lends a certain presence and volume to a space. It is the sense of proportions, along with details such as the linear element through the lamp, which sharpen the aesthetics and allow Margin’s special character to unfold.

Kizu Portable

The Kizu Family transforms with new additions featuring Kunis Breccia Marble, a natural stone characterised by its medley of scattered mineral fragments and gentle colours. Its raw beauty is countered by the polished finish and high-white shades, with the creamy colour tones delivering a soft interpretation of the iconic “kiss”; the precise meeting of the lamp’s two sculptural shapes. The entire Kizu family – the Kizu Table Lamp in small and large and Kizu Portable Table Lamp – now shines with the subtle attitude and timeless perspective of this new material meeting.
